Honestly with the murder of Charlie Kirk now it’s like. No I don’t care about this guy but after the D.C. shooting, the hostage march firebombing, the United Healthcare CEO guy, and probably other incidents I am forgetting about or never heard about to begin with. I think it’s safe to say that left wing terrorism/political violence is suddenly becoming a thing in the US when it really wasn’t before. And idk call me a pathetic shitlib but I think we are in a pretty bad situation if both the left and the right support and commit political violence and murders now and it’s like fully mainstream on both sides of the aisle now to crab rave about extrajudicial executions.
Unfortunately I know this is the piss on the poor website so this will be interpreted by many as sympathy for Charlie Kirk/his little fascist club and/or an accusation that if you’re glad he’s dead you’re a terrorist. It is not. Charlie Kirk can burn in hell. But idk man. As a Jew I really do not feel like crab raving when I see extrajudicial murders for political/ideological reasons being celebrated on both sides of the political spectrum and becoming a normal part of living in the United States. I think regardless of whether someone is a terrible person or not, the widespread support for political violence on both the left and the right is a very scary indicator of how faith in our democratic and legal systems is completely eroding. And like I said, call me a pathetic shitlib, but maybe people need to start remembering that when extrajudicial murders are widely supported by the population, those tend to turn into lynch mobs. We’ve already seen several political murders of random Jewish people in the US. I don’t feel like celebrating the normalization of terrorism on the left. The left used to be made up of the people who believed the death penalty is wrong and everyone has the right to both freedom of speech and a fair trial, regardless of who they are. Now I don’t know who it’s made up of. Revolutionary LARPers, I guess, who seem completely uninvested in LARPing any part of the glorious revolution except the part where they get to kill people.
